On July 24, Maple Leaf Foods, Inc. recalled the imported bacon from Canada because it did not undergo an import inspection when it entered the U.S.
While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, the recall has been given the highest risk level, Class I, for a reasonable probability that the bacon could cause serious, adverse health consequences.1
Which Bacon Was Recalled?
The recall affects two refrigerated bacon products:
Royale Natural Applewood Smoked All Natural Uncured Bacon Product of Canada
Packaged bacon labeled Royale All Natural with descriptions emphasizing natural production and no artificial additives
