As concerns about the crew grew, families and community organizations attempted to help by sending care packages filled with food, hygiene supplies and fresh clothing.

But getting those packages to the sailors has reportedly become another challenge.

The U.S. Postal Service indefinitely suspended mail service to 27 military ZIP codes in the region because of the war and related airspace closures. Some packages that were mailed weeks earlier have reportedly remained stuck at transit facilities instead of reaching their intended recipients.
